Castle Walls: What?!

Recently I did a Desmos Graphing Project, where I used many math equations to create an image. There is one particular component of my image that baffled many of my classmates when they first saw it.


The picture below shows a portion of the graph of the mystery equation. It continues on indefinitely like this; there is no trickery outside the boundaries of the image. It is a continuous function, and it is not piece-wisely defined. Your goal is to figure out the equation that gives this graph.


I highly suggest going to desmos.com and doing some graphing yourselves. Experimentation is key here. It took me a few days to come up with this equation from a vision of what I wanted, so don't feel upset if you aren't getting anywhere. Just keep trying!
